RETRACTION

It is now official. I am a judgemental, proud, mocking, unthinking, creep and there is probably no hope of redemption for me. Personally, I have been aware for a long time that I will not be making it to the celestial kingdom. I believe that hell is going to be more a state of mind than a place and mine will be like the movie Ground Hog Day and everyday I will wake up and I will be back in highschool--for eternity. But I digress.

Sooo.....this whole dead bat nightmare has taken over our little town and every one is just dying to know who it was and like me on my previous post---they are mocking and scorning her. Soooo...I go to the grocery store this morning to pick up a few things. I get to the checkout and choose the longer wait line because it has my favorite checker. When it is my turn we share happy hellos and conversation. The conversation turns to being busy. I say, "Well, I have just been busy with this whole dead rabies bat thing--my daughter was a "Toucher". Thankfully, (sort of) before I can say another word she stops checking, grabs my hand and pulls me close, and with tears in her eyes says, "My daughter is the one who brought the bat to school".

WILL I NEVER GET IT???!!!! Of course she is somebodies daughter!!! How many wishes for take backs and do overs have I had in my life??! Last night my kids and I were having an unrelated conversation about a new fact we had learned about someone that, at first glance was a little different. I was trying to explain to my son (in all my wise wisdom glory) that you just can't judge someone---it may seem odd---but it is working for them. And my truly wise 12 year old said, "Like that hymn--Who am I to judge another, when I walk imperfectly" As I stood looking into that dear woman's eyes those words were screaming in my head. So I am printing a retraction. I want a do over, a take back. I am sorry, sorry, sorry. I am pitiful. I hope you all will not give up hope on me.

You are so hard on yourself, and that's probably why you are a lot better person than most. You set your standards high, and achieve more but then that also makes it so easy to be disappointed in yourself. I love that you learn the lesson in your experiences and get better from going through them. I want to be like you when I grow up. Seriously! :-)

On man, do you often wonder what the Lord is trying to teach us when these things happen. I can't even imagine what you went through at that moment, or what she had been going through. It is obvious from her reaction she had been beating herself up over this. I would describe this as a "ouch" moment. We have all been there a time or two. The Atonement is such a gift. The ability to repent is priceless, isn't it. I am so sorry. I know your heart and you would never mean to hurt her. Keep your chin up.

We learn lessons everyday. You are one of the good ones.....admitting to it and expressing a want to change. That's all you can do. You are awesome!

WOW! Thank you for your post today!!!! She learned, her daughter learned, you learned, your children learned (and as usual TAUGHT YOU! (God zaps me though my children regularly:)), all is well! Did you tell her she was your favorite checker? How cool it would be to know that, checkers don't get alot of glory.
(Love your terms 'mother of a toucher', 'mother of the bringer') I'm sharing this!!!! Honestly, my kids would be the BRINGERS AND TOUCHERS!!!

Don't beat yourself up too much. The point is that you LEARNED from it. Anyone would be squicked out and concerned about the bat thing. I'm trying not to laugh because it isn't funny but your description of the whole thing sure was!

Pam-THANK YOU so much for the scripture and the clarification! When I mess up I have a tendency to just spaz out and forget to be still and know that Heavenly Father still loves me. After spending 3 hours at the school with 99 other children waiting to consult with the CDC and getting Angel's 1st rabies vaccination--I have come to the conclusion that this was just an unfortunate situation all the way around. One of the teachers had enough prescence of mind to not even let the bat in her room--so--yeah--control is a big issue.

Red--now that I can laugh about it YOU SOOO crack me up! Don't you hate it when that happens??!!

Marivic--thanx for the kind words. They were healing balm at the time.

Dawn--I am always wondering!!! It was so painful at the time--because I needed it--my humilty or lack there of is always a problem--but thanx to all the kind words and the reminders that I do need to remember the Atonement--I can see the humor in it all. I mean, what are the odds??!!

Adventure Girl--you are way too kind--but thanx

Carla--Yes--and your little ones shall teach you is big in my life. I have told her, often that she is my favorite--I think that is why she told me. ANd yes--touchers and bringers--aren't we all??!

da Bergs--now I can laugh--thank heavens. I'm sure the video would have been a best seller!

Binders--Thanx for the words of comfort and it's okay--we can all laugh now--

You're already excused because of your honest, candid post. Don't beat yourself up. What an awful thing for that Mom, you're good to see it.
