Is it Christmas yet??!!

I am flying a little under the Merry Christmas radar this year. Nothing horrible—just nothing to launch me into tears at the end of “It’s a Wonderful Life “ either.

People who are bipolar, such as myself, find Christmas carol titles such as---“Do You Hear What I Hear”—especially entertaining. Just sayin…..

For those of you who might be new around here—I really AM bipolar and have written a blog post about it that you can read HERE.

My sweet #2 daughter read it in a class at her cosmetology school recently when they had a class about dealing with suicide because there had been so many there lately SO…she reminded me  there were probably others out there who could maybe use it------(longest, most grammatically incorrect sentence EVER)

All is not doom and gloom though—promise.

As I went to decorate my home for the holidays I discovered (much to my budget’s dismay) that most of my decorations that I used in my garage home (click on it to read about it) don’t really fit this home. So I looked around blog land and gathered a few different ideas and got my Christmas Pottery Barn catalog and came up with this:

20101211_0352

and this:

20101211_0355 Oh look, we have a visitor:

20101211_0358

It is a little blurry, and Martha I’m not—but it’ll do, I think. And, hopefully I have many years to collect and make more! I have been up to a few other things but will save them for another day.

Meanwhile, got any other great ideas for great Christmas songs for this bipolar girl??

(Like, funny ones {ie: Do You Hear What I Hear}—I already have a playlist of 300 favorite Christmas carols—thanx tho--)

James has this Weird Al Christmas song about Santa going crazy... :o)

Side note: I have noticed that whenever I go to type S A N T A , it comes out S A T A N and I have to hit the backspace and go slower! :o) HAHAHAHA!! Come on, that should make you laugh! :o)

those are gorgeous! You did a fantatastic job!
I haven't listened to a whole lot of Christmas music yet this year. Perhaps that's why I'm feeling a little grinchy?

Look at you Go! It's beautiful...
That would cost a fortune through Pottery Barn! How long did it take you to make?
songs...hmmm, I really like The Grinch....I wonder what disorders he might suffer from. :)
Take care and I so appreciate your openness in sharing.

Oh my gorgeousness!!!!!
It is lurvley. If I wasn't in such a holiday funk I might try and copy.
I reread your bipolar post. You may have pinned the tale on my donkey this week.
I love your writing.

Look at you getting all crafty and Martha Stewart-y. I love it! If the voices are telling you to decorate, I say go for it. Can't wait to see what's next.

I had to laugh out loud at "Do You Hear What I Hear?" We all need to laugh just a little bit more. Otherwise we'll cry. I love your decorations - beautiful job! Gather them as you go and you'll soon have lots of treasures. For the comment above, I sometimes type "Satan" instead of "Santa" too... what does that mean????

This isn't a funny one, but if you want a really good version of Do You Hear What I hear, listen to the versions by Chaka Khan and Destiny's child.

First, I want to say that your decorations are simply stunning - You did such a great job, very professional. I LOVE your porch/front door - it is so inviting and happy.

Second, you are very brave to talk about your bipolar so openly. I have dealt with depression, which is bad enough, but one of my best friends is bipolar and life is really hard for her - we talk alot. I understand so much more from talking with her and helping her. It is HARD!!
I think you are pretty terrific - you seem to function well - your family is beautiful, you have a wonderful attitude. I guess I just really like you :-D (big smile!).
Merry Christmas!!

I know you asked for funny but a GORGEOUS song that is more seasonal rather than holiday is called "Winter Song" by Sarah Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson. You will find yourself "bum bum bum bumming" it for days. I find it very calming. and Lisa...I love you like a second mother!

WAIT!! You made those wreaths and garlands? GIRL! Tutorial! STAT!

I teach choir at the elementary school and this year we sang Reindeer boogie and A Hot Cup of Coco. The last one has a line that makes me snigger every time the kids sing it-- and I may have actually done a little booty shake to it-- "I want some liquid love and only the chocolate kind will do." So RACY for little kids, no?!
