Flashback Friday

Pedaling did this today and I decided I wanted to do it too. This is something I can handle—I have a million of these!

1970

These are things I may or may not have said when I have looked at this photo:

1. Mom, I’m really hoping the reason that I am smiling is because you didn’t allow mirrors in our home.

2. What magic pixie dust were we as a planet inhaling to accept this sparkly, winged eyebrow look as FASHION??!! Yes folks--someone INHALED!!

3. Does this qualify as child abuse?

4. The kid is missing some teeth and her Mother dresses her funny----like the glasses matter.

5. There should be greater regulation in the eye wear industry.

6. Just because someone is sight challenged doesn’t give the fashion industry the right to mock them.

8. No wonder everybody always made fun of the kid with glasses!!

9. These look like they should have their own theme music.

10. No eyebrows—no worries!! Just—no worries in general, I’m thinking...

No wonder I am the way I am......

That is a cute picture! I say that because you and I had a very similar look going on, except you have longer hair and more teeth. Same glasses!

You look adorable! At least your mom curled your hair! My mom always had me in a Pixie cut and I hated it. Straight, super-short hair. I had to fight like crazy in sixth grade to be allowed to grow it out. Maybe that's why I still have shoulder length hair! LOL. I also was told I needed glasses in fourth grade but didn't get them until the end of sixth when I was nearly half blind (okay not quite that bad of eyesight). I can understand that delay though since they had nine kids (I was #7). Mom had seven girls and I guess she was tired of doing hair by the time I came around since everyone else got to have long hair until me. Sad I know. But, on a happy note, you look adorable!!

You've got nothin' on me! I had those same glasses, but mine were pink-checkered!

I love your sense of humor! I did a post like this a while back...it was of me thru the years and the good the bad and the very ugly were shown!

Very cute post! And you were a very cute little girl!

At least you had longer hair. I had very long hair (down to my fanny)until the start of first grade. Then mom took me to a butcher (hairdresser....Mrs. Brown) who pulled my hair back into a long ponytail and cut it off at the nape of my neck! I had a stupid Peter-Pan hair cut! HATED IT!! I belive that one incident is the reason to this very day that I have longer hair. Up until a few years back, it was down to the middle of my back, but now it is just past my shoulders. And the kids were so mean when I had that short hair way back then.....Kids really are very mean and unkind when other children look different....whether it is short hair or glasses. But we all survived...even it did make us nuts as adults...he, he.

You were absolutely adorable!! I need to pull out my middle school picture with the GINORMOUS glasses of the 80's. They were bigger than my entire face. What IS up with the manufacturers of glasses anyway?

(so tell me, is #7 so bad you couldn't even post it?)
THANK YOU GOD this was not in style when I had to get glasses!
However, inspite of the style handicap, you were one cutie pie!!

i love your humor and your writing! You know my two teenagers came home with horned glasses only they were dual colored. Big Black on the outside and lined with pink and red on the inside!! I thought they had lost their minds. They said, mom these are in!!

YEP!! tell your kids that one in 20 years.
