Nat and the #22

It was Natty (my #2’s birthday) in March and in the spirit of denial that I so fully embrace—I am just getting around to doing that beloved Fiddler on The Roof’s “Sunrise, Sunset”tribute thingie I had wanted to do.

All I know is that when I go through these pics…..

…. and realize that in less than a month this child will be leaving me for 18 months….

…. with no way to contact her except snail mail and emails….

…. it makes my heart kind of feel like someone is pinching it real hard and then shaking it around and then throwing it down to my toes.

Have you ever felt like that???

Like you are walking around with a smooshed up heart in your toes??!!

Not sure what to call these next few and the skillz they employ…..

I can’t begin to tell you how proud I am of these two—no really, I have no words……blown_away__FROM_NATTY

Thanx for 22 fabulous years Natty Gahn. I LOVE YOU! You are my heart and hero---go forth and conquer!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!

I'm panicking for you.

I cannot stand the thought of my boys leaving! I just told Cherie that I get sad when they go back to school each year. I plan to imbed tracking devices into their bodies on their next birthdays.

She is beautiful and full of fun. What a wonderful missionary she will make!

Having said that, yes, I feel for you! It always killed me to have them go, too.

=)

Oh my goodness! She is so beautiful.

I love all the pictures.
My favorite is the baby picture with her chubby thighs.........or maybe it's the one blowdrying her mouth.

She sounds like a fabulous woman.

You should be proud.

Your ability to put that feeling into words astonishes me. And my heart feels smooshed up for your heart.

Yep, I know that feeling! Ouch...it hurts too!

18 months! Ack...don't think I would handle that very well! I would be going with mine to stalk their every move....without them knowing of course...Lol!

It is so hard to let them spread their wings and fly solo when we have been with them every step of the way so far!!

Beautiful post for a Beautiful young lady! =)

Did I miss the post that stated where she will be serving?

I think you will find a very special bond- even stronger in some ways- through those written notes to each other. Trust me - you will.

She's a cu-tie who I can tell is a whole lot a fun!

Where is she going? (I would love it if she were coming HERE!) She's lovely - such pretty eyes. And ohhhhh I do know that feeling you describe. And it gets better with time... and lots of letters/emails... and slowly gets replaced with a huge pride in the work she's doing. I promise. But the homecoming day is still just THE BEST.

She's beautiful- she gets it from you, you know. What a fun scary thing- at least it's only 18 months right?

These are all skills that every Sister needs. Except the 4 wheeling. Well, maybe the 4 wheeling. I don't know, it's been a while since I was out.

Yes, what a bittersweet birthday this is for you and Mother's Day. Next year it's the phone call. It's so hard to let them go but it's so worth it. We've been blessed abundantly by Travis serving his mission but what's surprised me is it's in ways I never thought about. The majority of people told me that they'd never had more money and their "cup runneth over." God's chosen to bless us in other ways that we could never have anticipated. Hang in there Lisa! She'll be a fantastic missionary!

Hello Sister Bishop! We are currently enjoying your sweet daughter in Tennessee! She mentioned your blog to me tonight so I popped on over :) She is an AMAZING missionary and brings joy to all around her. She is beautiful inside and out and she just shines. You should be so proud of her (as if I had to tell you that!). We are so grateful we got to be her first area and wish she could stay here her entire mission. If only :) Thank you for sharing her with us!!
